Panasonic Lumix G10 digital camera announced

Panasonic Canada this week announced a new model in its LUMIX G Series of digital cameras, the LUMIX DMC-G10 which the company claims is “the world’s lightest interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder.” In addition to still images, the compact 12.1 megapixel camera with Venus Engine is also capable of recording 1280 x 720 HD video in Motion JPEG, QVGA, VGA and WVGA formats.

The LUMIX G10’s compact body uses a mirror-less structure as part the Micro Four Thirds System standard which eliminates a number of components found in conventional interchangeable lens cameras, including the mirror box.

And optical viewfinder unit.Additional features include: iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, a shooting assist function which offers automatic optimization according to the scene in both photo and video recording; MEGA O.I.S., which helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control, which reduces motion blur by adjusting.

The ISO sensitivity if the subject moves; Intelligent Exposure which optimizes exposure for each part of an image; and Intelligent Scene Selector which detects the most common shooting situations – Portrait, Night Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Close-up and Sunset – and switches to the appropriate Scene mode automatically. Panasonic did not announce pricing or availability for the new device.
