The V-Lux 30 boasts a 3in LCD touch screen (460,000 pixel resolution) and a lens designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 24-384mm zoom. Due on sale next month, the matt black model is claimed to be ideal for wide-angle landscapes, architectural scenes and street photos.
It also features a 3D mode, which combines two photos taken in sequence. These are viewable in MPO format on 3D-compatible screens, says Leica. Also on board is Full HD video recording (1080i AVCHD format) and a built-in stereo microphone with electronic 'wind noise filter'.
A GPS function records the geographical co-ordinates of the photographer's location, saving the data in the image's Exif file. The £550 kit will include Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 image editing software. A leather case and soft leather pouch will be available as optional extras, costing £80 and £63 respectively.
